Disney’s latest animated feature film, Encanto, will win its opening weekend at the box office. The film earned $7.5 million when it opened in theaters on Wednesday. It has earned $28.7 million over its first three days at the box office, on its way towards a 5-day Thanksgiving holiday weekend take of about $40 million. Byron Howard (Zootopia,ย Tangled) and Jared Bush (Zootopia) directed the film, with Charise Castro Smith (The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez) aboard as co-director. Bush co-wrote the film’s script with Castro Smith. and Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino produced the movie. Encantoย features new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
House of Gucci is having the biggest opening weekend for a drama in two years, with $21.8 million over the holiday.ย Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Eternals, and Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City all round out the top five films this weekend.
