"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance."
Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Ken Watanabe (Inception), O'Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), and Aisha Hinds (True Blood) will star in the movie. Krampusand Trick 'r Treat filmmaker, Michael Dougherty, will helm Godzilla: King of the Monsters, based on a script he wrote with his Krampus co-writer, Zach Shields.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters will hit theaters March 22, 2019.
prevnextMothra
Mothra is a fan-favorite among those who root for Godzilla. Having appeared in a dozen titles across various mediums, Mothra is the original flying opponent to Godzilla. She originally introduced the idea of a monster being one of the "good guys."
Mothra is always ready to throw down and frequently finds herself involved with fights, but, historically, has rarely left too many marks on her opponents. However, when Mothra dies, she tends to leave some larva behind which can take her place.
prevnextRodan
Rodan was shown in the black-and-white images at the end of Kong: Skull Island. Rodan has appeared in over half of a dozen titles and is a well-received flying monster which resembles a pterodactyl.
Rodan has served as an enemy to Godzilla on several occasions, but is quite often an ally. While Rodan has never been crucial to Godzilla stories, he earns favoritism from his ability to be a supporting role to Godzilla's lead.
prevnextKing Ghidorah
Ghidorah is one of the top-ranking Godzilla monsters and was clearly revealed when what looked like a three-headed dragon took the screen during Kong: Skull Island's post-credits scene.
Ghidorah is a dragon which has appeared in just shy of 10 Godzilla titles and is considered his nemesis. If being a three-headed golden dragon wasn't enough, Ghidorah becomes "Mecha-King Ghidorah" in the Heisei series.
