Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw speeds past the competition in its opening weekend at the box office. The film earned an estimated $23.72 million on Friday and will take in $60 million in its first three days. The first Fast & Furious spinoff sees Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprising their roles from the Fast & Furious films. They team up — along with Venessa Kirby as Shaw’s sister, an MI6 agent — to take on Brixton, a cybernetically enhanced terrorist played by Idris Elba.
The Lion King movies in second place in its third weekend at the box office. The film earned $11.1 million on Friday on its way to an estimated $38.24 million weekend. The Lion King is a CGI remake of Disney’s animated classic of the same name, featuring superstar voice talents like Donald Glover and Beyonce Knowles-Carter.

Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood drops to third place. The film earned $5.65 million on Friday and will take in an estimated $20 million in its second weekend. The film takes place in the 1960s as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) as they try to navigate a Hollywood that’s changing and leaving them behind.
Spider-Man: Far From Home moves into fourth place. The latest Spider-Man adventure set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe earned $2.2 million on Friday. It will earn another $8 million over the weekend. The film is the first Spider-Man movie to make $1 billion worldwide.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Peter heads to Europe on a class trip with Ned (Jacob Batalon), MJ (Zendaya), and the rest of their class. The trip becomes less of a vacation and more of a work trip when Spidey is called in by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to team up with Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) and investigate mysterious elemental creatures popping up across the continent.
