Kingsman is returning to the box office in style as the sequel to the surprise 2014 hit shoots to the top of the chart in its opening weekend.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle will manage to knock It off the top of the box office. The sequel earned $15.7 million on Friday and is projected for an opening weekend total of more than $40 million from 4,003 locations. That’s an improvement over the $36 million opening weekend for Kingsman: The Secret Service despite the first movie having more favorable reviews.
It may not be in the top spot anymore after this weekend, but the Stephen King horror film is still going strong. It earned approximately $9 million on Friday and is expected to have a third weekend total of about $30 million from 4,007 locations. That will put the new box office total for It at about $266 million.
The latest installment of the Lego animated film franchise, The Lego Ninjago Movie, opens in third place. The film earned $6.1 million on Friday and is projected for about $22 million over the weekend from 4,047 locations. That’s below initial projections for the movie and will make it the first in the series, following The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie, not to win its opening weekend at the box office.
Dylan O’Brien’s American Assassin slides into fourth place this week. The film earned $1.85 million on Friday and is projected for $6.1 million over the weekend, bringing its overall total to $26 million.
Reese Witherspoon’s romantic comedy Home Again lands in fifth place, earning $1 million on Friday and an estimated $3.4 million over the weekend, bringing the film’s total to $22.4 million.
Rounding out the top ten this weekend are Darren Aronofsky’s controversial mother!, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, low-budget horror film Friend Request, Stronger, and Wind River.

Pitting father against son, the epic showdown tests these fierce but undisciplined modern-day ninjas as they learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash the inner power of Spinjitzu.
