All the Live-Action Spider-Man Movies Are Returning to Theaters

With great anniversaries comes great re-releases. Sony’s Spider-Man sagas — starring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland as the web-slinger — are swinging back into select theaters throughout the spring and summer to commemorate Columbia Pictures’ 100th anniversary. 

From April 15 through June 10, Sony Pictures will bring eight live-action Spider-Man movies back to theaters for one week only: Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), and Spider-Man 3 (2007); Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014); and Jon Watts’ Marvel Cinematic Universe-set trilogy, Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Spider-Man (2002): April 15, 2024

Spider-Man centers onstudent Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) who, after being bitten by agenetically-altered spider, gains superhuman strength and thespider-like ability to cling to any surface. He vows to use hisabilities to fight crime, coming to understand the words of his belovedUncle Ben: “With great power comes great responsibility.”

Spider-Man 2 (2004): April 22, 2024

When a failed nuclear fusionexperiment results in an explosion that kills his wife, Dr. OttoOctavius (Alfred Molina) is transformed into Dr. Octopus, a cyborg withdeadly metal tentacles. Doc Ock blames Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) forthe accident and seeks revenge. Meanwhile, Spidey’s alter ego, PeterParker, faces fading powers and self-doubt. Complicating matters are hisbest friend’s (James Franco) hatred for Spider-Man and his true love’s(Kirsten Dunst) sudden engagement to another man.

Spider-Man 3 (2007): April 29, 2024

Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire)and M.J. (Kirsten Dunst) seem to finally be on the right track in theircomplicated relationship, but trouble looms for the superhero and hislover. Peter’s Spider-Man suit turns black and takes control of him, notonly giving Peter enhanced power but also bringing out the dark side ofhis personality. Peter must overcome the suit’s influence as twosupervillains, Sandman and Venom, rise up to destroy him and all thosehe holds dear.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012): May 6, 2024

Abandoned by his parents andraised by an aunt and uncle, teenager Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield),AKA Spider-Man, is trying to sort out who he is and exactly what hisfeelings are for his first crush, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). When Peterfinds a mysterious briefcase that was his father’s, he pursues a questto solve his parents’ disappearance. His search takes him to Oscorp andthe lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), setting him on a collisioncourse with Connors’ alter ego, the Lizard.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014): May 13, 2024

Confident in his powers asSpider-Man, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) embraces his new role as ahero and spends time with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) in between protectingNew York from criminals. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017): May 20, 2024

Thrilled by his experiencewith the Avengers, young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home to live with his AuntMay (Marisa Tomei). Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Parker starts toembrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return tohis normal daily routine — distracted by thoughts of proving himself tobe more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soonput his powers to the test when the evil Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges to threateneverything that he holds dear.

Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019): May 27, 2024

Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) relaxingEuropean vacation takes an unexpected turn when Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) shows up inhis hotel room to recruit him for a mission. The world is in danger asfour massive elemental creatures — each representing Earth, air, waterand fire — emerge from a hole torn in the universe. Parker soon findshimself donning the Spider-Man suit to help Fury and fellow superheroMysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) stop the evil entities from wreaking havoc across thecontinent.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021): June 3, 2024

With Spider-Man’s identitynow revealed, our friendly neighborhood web-slinger is unmasked and nolonger able to separate his normal life as Peter Parker (Tom Holland) from the highstakes of being a superhero. When Peter asks for help from DoctorStrange (Benedict Cumberbatch), the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discoverwhat it truly means to be Spider-Man.
