Even those who dislike Michael Bay’s Transformers movies are cautiously hopeful for the upcoming Bumblebee spinoff film, mostly because that film will take the franchise back to the classic “G1” era of the Transformers cartoon.

One of the biggest throwback features of the Bumblebee movie has been the tease that ‘Bee will be rolling out in his iconic G1 vehicle mode of a Volkswagen Beetle, and thanks to the new set photo below, we finally have an official look at the classic VWs that will be used in the film!

SYNOPSIS: On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
