In the chaos of WonderCon, it was easy not to notice that yesterday, Walt Disney Pictures announced date and location for the world premiere of The Avengers. The Joss Whedon-directed adaptation of Marvel's most famous super-team will make its way to the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on Wednesday, April 11, for a star-studded red carpet debut. The Avengers will be released in theatres commercially on May 4, following a series of midnight screenings around the country including 30 cities in the US and Canada where marathon screenings of all of Marvel Studios' movies will be presented back-to-back. The cast and "special guests" will begin arriving at 6 p.m., according to Disney, while the screening itself will begin an hour later. Expect "special guests to include, among others, Whedon and probably Stan Lee.
