In May’s new product solicitations from DC Comics, released an hour ago, the publisher announced that The Movement from Gail Simone and Freddie Williams II’s Occupy Wall Street-inspired superhero comic The Movement will end on May 7.The final issue will be #12, which will see the team looking to rescue one of their own from a cult. You can see the cover above and the solicitation text below.Rumors of the series’ demise have circulated for months, ever since the end of its companion series The Green Team: Teen Trillionaires was announced. At the time of their joint release, the pair of titles–which featured characters not regulars in the DC Universe prior to the New 52–were positioned by the publisher as two sides of the same sociological coin, with The Movement representing the 99% and Teen Trillionaires representing the super-rich.Art Baltazar and Franco, who worked on The Green Team, presumably left to take up Tiny Titans, an announcement met with fan jubilation the weekend of New York Comic Con. That book’s final issue, which hit the stands in January, seemingly implies that they might be attempting to purchase the rights to the name “Teen Titans,” conveniently another DC book recently slated for cancellation.THE MOVEMENT #12 Written by GAIL SIMONE Art by FREDDIE WILLIAMS II Cover by STEVEN SEGOVIA On sale MAY 7 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T+ • FINAL ISSUE There’s no length the Movement won’t go to if it means rescuing one of their own from a cult that has deep roots in Burden’s hometown.
