The audition process for any Power Ranger is a lengthy one, but most experiences don’t involve getting called a Spaz.

That was the case for Power Rangers: Megaforce star Ciara Hanna though.
“So with my audition process, I had a lot of coffee” recalled Hanna during a panel at Yestercon, “and I went in there and in the audition room, I knew Alex Heartman, the Red Samurai Ranger, was going to be in the room at the same time I was going in. I was nervous as hell cause I, me and Alex go way back, we’re friends, and we liked each other at one point, and then we didn’t. It was a weird, awkward thing. So I knew he was going to be in there so I go in there with this nervous like, (shaking) “ahhhh”.
That nervousness manifested in some entertaining ways, at least for everyone other than Hanna.
“I go in there and like “Oh hey yeah nice to meet ya I’m Ciara oh I can do a cartwheel yeah” says Ciara about her first meeting with the producer, before actually performing a cartwheel. She followed it up with a few more “yeahs” and then throws a few punches at air.
“Then, Jonathan the Producer is like “Ciara, did you just have coffee?”, and I was like “yeah, Americano Ice, large.” She remembers Jonathan’s reaction, saying “alright, well, we will make sure there’s no coffee on set.”
“Then Alex told me what Jonathan wrote on his piece of paper after,” recalls Hanna. “He put “Spaz”, circle, circle, circle, circle.”
It seems it worked out in the end though, and evidently despite the nervousness they still saw the potential.
Hanna played the Yellow Ranger in both Power Rangers: Megaforce and Power Rangers: Super Megaforce, and did give a nod to fans that she might be involved with the upcoming 25th Anniversary special as well. An official announcement is expected at New York Comic-Con.
