Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has a stacked cast, even if its made up of people that most American moviegoers may not recognize. While lead Felicity Jones is already an Academy Award nominee, others like Riz Ahmed or Diego Luna are known more for indie or smaller budget films. Donnie Yen is a true international superstar, though, with a massive following in his native Asia and continents abroad.
The latest TV spot, coming out of Japan (Yen, a Chinese martial arts master, currently resides with his family in Hong Kong for context), focuses almost entirely on his character, Chirrut Îmwe. The character is a blind monk who worships the Force, even if he can't wield it in a traditional way like a Jedi can do. That means he has zen-like moments, plus some of Yen's signature hand-to-hand butt kicking.
In fact, when Donnie Yen was asked to describe his character in three words during a facebook live Q&A, he said, simply, "Ass-kicking Chinese? That's it, isn't it?" His castmate Riz Ahmed, who plays the former Imperial cargo pilot Bodhi Rook, replied, "It's not describe yourself in three words!"

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits US theaters December 16, 2016. Directed by Gareth Edwards, it's the first of the new standalone features from Lucasfilm and Disney, which take place outside the core "Skywalker Saga" of films noted by an Episode number. Rogue Onetells the story of the small band of rebels that were tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. The story spins directly off the opening crawl from the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In that crawl, it read: "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet."
