Earlier this year, audiences learned that Tom Hardy had a cameo in The Last Jedi, but didn't know which character he was playing. With the film now in theaters, the Mad Max: Fury Road star took to Instagram to show a behind-the-scenes look at his role as a First Order Stormtrooper.

In the scene, Hardy would have been wearing a Stormtrooper helmet and not been at all recognizable, much like Daniel Craig's cameo in The Force Awakens.

News came earlier this year that not only did Tom Hardy have a cameo, but that Princes Harry and William as well as Take That singer Gary Barlow all made appearances.

Ultimately, it was John Boyega who spilled the beans about all four of the celebrities appearing in a scene alongside him.

When Boyega was appearing on BBC Radio 4's "Today" program, the actor revealed of the cameos, "I think they took that scene out. I've had enough with those Prince William secrets, man. They came on set; they were there, man. Tom Hardy was there, too – I said it. I'm sick of hiding this… Every time I get asked I don't know how to dodge it. Yeah, they were on set."

During an actors roundtable hosted by The Hollywood Reporter, Boyega said the experience made for a "strange contrast of a weird family" and clarified, "It's the best of both worlds for me."

Unfortunately, John Boyega was the one to reveal that the complete scene didn't appear in the final film and that at least Princes William and Harry didn't make the finished cut.

"They cut it out of the film," Boyega revealed to talk show This Morning. "I did personally apologize to them yesterday and said, 'Sorry you were cut out of the film.' Will was like, 'I guess I just need to work more on the skill.'"

While the members of royalty may have been cut, it's unclear if Hardy and Barlow were also cut from the finished product, as they could have made an appearance at another point in the film.

The Last Jedi is in theaters now.
