And the con just earned some major points with a tribute to the late, great Carrie Fisher.

Over at the Sheraton hotel, ECCC organizers placed this tribute wall and banner up for Fisher, honoring both the International Bipolar Foundation and the Midnight Mission with a board for fans to sign.

Her good friend and Star Wars costar Peter Mayhewโ€”who portrayed Chewbacca throughout five different saga filmโ€”took the time to pay respects to his friend by signing the wall.

The banner next to the wall also pays a touching tribute to the late Fisher, saying:

Carrie Fisher was scheduled to appear at Emerald City Comicon this year, prior to her untimely passing. Our hearts are broken, and we know yours are too.

She was our general, our princess, our leader in the Rebellion.

Please join us in honoring Carrie by leaving a personal message for her on the wall that we will pass along to her family.

May the Force be with her.

It’s heartbreaking yet encouraging to see such a display of affection from so many people whom she touched with such a storied career. Everyone is definitely feeling the effects of her loss. Good on the ECCC organizers for paying homage to one of the dearly departed greats.
