Fisher passed away in December last year after suffering a cardiac arrest while flying from London to Los Angeles. Her own mother Debbie Reynolds tragically passed away just one day later after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
Lourd’s photo posted to Instagram depicts her sitting on her mom’s lap while the two take a ride in a train car. Fisher is smiling warmly as her daughter playfully sticks her tongue out toward the camera.
The post was simply captioned with a lone heart, prompting an outpouring of support through people’s comments.
Lourd was featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Lieutenant Connix alongside her mother who portrayed Princess and then General Leia Organa in four different films in the franchise. Both actors will appear in this December’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which will be Fisher’s final on-screen appearance. She is said to feature heavily in the Rian Johnson-directed film.
Lourd made her first public appearance at last month’s Star Wars Celebration where she paid tribute to her mother.
“She taught me by her own example, that the most evolved person is seemingly a contradiction,” Lourd said at the event. “They are both the strongest and the most vulnerable person in the room. And that was her. That is Leia.”
Lourd will next be seen in the upcoming season of American Horror Story.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters December 15.
