A new report coming from Spanish publication La Provincia indicates that filming for the Han Solo spinoff is underway in Fuerteventura. The report from the Las Palmas newspaper also seems to indicate it might be featured as a significant location in Star Wars lore.

Production for Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s take on Han Solo—starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, and Thandie Newton, among others—will pick up on the Canary Islands soon as preparations now take place to set up the shoot. It will take place in the Jandía Natural Park.

The newspaper states rather plainly that the location will be used as Corellia, a location that has only been mentioned in the Star Wars films and has yet to be featured on screen. It is the home of Han Solo and is said to be “where he became the best smuggler in the galaxy under the order of Jabba the Hutt,” according to the Spanish translation.

The report also states that the location is where Solo completed the Kessel run “in less than 12 parsecs,” but that could be inaccurate as the Kessel spice mines are an entirely different location from Corellia.

Corellia is known for manufacturing space transports in the Star Wars universe. In the now out-of-continuity Legends stories, Corellia was stated to be a place with lush jungles and tropic foliage, though it was home to different biomes. The Star Wars Galaxies video game also seemed to combine deserts with forests for the location.

But given that the location has yet to appear on screen and the new canon has yet to feature Corellia, the new filming location could be used as the basis for the oft-mentioned Solo homeworld. But whether the paper was just speculating or stating factual information will not be apparent until more information comes out about the Star Wars spinoff.

Hopefully we will find out more at Star Wars Celebration or the D23 Expo this year, but the film isn’t set to release until May of next year.
