Star Wars: The Force Awakens might have played it a little safe, with the new planets looking similar to locales previously shown on the screen, but the next film in the saga looks to continue the tradition established in the Original Trilogy and was followed up in the prequels.
Making Star Wars followed up on a report from last year in which they published set photos for Star Wars: The Last Jedi which depict John Boyega as Finn and Kelly Marie Tran as Rose on the gambling planet known as Canto Bight.
The sequence features a wild chase scene in which Finn and Rose escape from some guards on a speeder after they steal a “space horse” from a stable. The horse is reportedly used for racing, with space jockeys riding them in competition.
Now Making Star Wars has learned the name of the alien species, calling them “falthiers.”

In the spirit of Banthas Tauntauns, Dewbacks, and many more, it looks like the Star Wars saga will have another memorable entry in the database of ridable animals.
The picture in filming seems to show that the horse has prosthetics used during filming, but it’s likely to be altered via CGI in post production. Maybe we’ll get a better glimpse of the new animals in another trailer before Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases in theaters on December 15.
