Star Wars Celebration in Orlando may be winding down, but we’re still buzzing from Friday’s huge reveals at the panel celebrating the new movie.
Director Rian Johnson celebrated the 40th anniversary of the franchise with the first teaser trailer to promote the next film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The teaser was packed with awesome moments, explosive images, favorite characters, and so much more.
We’ve picked a part a ton of finer details that you otherwise might have missed, but here’s another one we spotted that has us buzzing.
While the trailer features a ton of new ships and speeders for collectors to drool over, there’s also a few iconic vehicles returning for the newest installment in the Star Wars Saga. You might have noticed the Millennium Falcon and X-Wings in the teaser, but did you catch this classic ship from Return of the Jedi?
The A-Wing was featured extensively in the Rebellion’s campaign against the second Death Star, and has since been featured in many episodes of Star Wars Rebels.
But here it is, featured in all its glory in a battle between the Resistance and the First Order.
It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot in the new teaser, and its going to fast that it’s impossible to get an HD shot of the vehicle, but that is the unmistakable form of the A-Wing flying by in the battle.
These come off the rumors that we’ll be seeing B-Wings in the film—those ships turned out to be the new speeders going up against the First Order’s Assault Walkers on the surface of the new planet Crait. But it’s nice that we are actually going to be seeing some other classic fleet fighters from Star Wars canon. The A-Wings are fast and agile starships capable of holding their own in a dog fight, but while they are quick and have some firepower they lack in shielding.
Hopefully we don't see them go down as fodder like the Green Squadron did in the battle over Endor’s moon. We’ll find out more when Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15.
