We have our young Han Solo for the as-yet-unofficially-titled Han Solo: A Star Wars Story movie, as actor Alden Ehrenreich was unveiled at Star Wars Celebration Europe in London. While a few rumors have soared by in less than 12 parsecs about other characters and possible story elements, nothing concrete has hit yet.

The latest of those rumors and reports comes from The Wrap, who reports that a young Lando Calrissian will also join the movie. Han and Lando have a long implied history together when we meet Mr. Calrissian in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. From that initial interaction, we learned that the Millennium Falcon belonged to Lando, until he lost it to Han Solo “fair and square” in a game of Sabaac (the galactic version of Poker). We also know that some time after that, but before the events of the original Star Wars trilogy, Lando set up shop on Lothal, as seen in Star Wars Rebels.
In both those instances, Lando Calrissian was played (or voiced, in the latter) by Billy Dee Williams. The Wrap didn’t have any inside info on who Lucasfilm or directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller might be eying, but there are certainly plenty of young talented black actors who will be ready to throw on that stylin’ cape and do some wheeling and dealing (and potentially fly the Falcon!). Miller and Lord joked that Han, Chewie, and Lando’s appearance in The Lego Movie was canon at Celebration, so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that they’d want to use Lando once more.
Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently planned for May 25, 2018.
