Riverdale has become known for addressing plenty of social issues - and now one of its stars is doing the same in real life.
Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge on the hit The CW series, recently took to Instagram to announce her partnership with Project HEAL. She spoke out about the organization, which helps fund treatment for those with eating disorders, and revealed her personal experience with the condition along the way.
"I can say from experience that eating disorders are serious mental illnesses." Mendes writes. "Growing up, I watched my big sister suffer from one for many years, and I've experiences periods of my life when I've suffered symptoms as well."
Mendes also announced her involvement in Project HEAL's annual "Fighting For 500" Gala, which you can read more information about here. Those attending the benefit can bid on a day on the set of Riverdale.
Mendes is just the latest Riverdale cast member to speak candidly about their personal experiences. Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty Cooper, recently spoke out about a previous experience with sexual harassment, as well as her past struggles with depression.
Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
