Andy Cohen to Guest Star on 'Riverdale' as Himself

It looks like Riverdale and the real world are about to collide, at least for one episode.

Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host Andy Cohen will be guest-starring on The CW drama in late March. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cohen begins shooting his scenes later this week in which he will be playing himself. According to The CW "he's an old friend of the Lodges who has come to Riverdale to offer Hermione (Marisol Nichols) a helping hand."

But why would Hermione Lodge need a helping hand? That part wasn't clear. What we do know is that with Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) in the picture and Veronica (Camilla Mendes) in on her parents' questionable dealings, there is sure to be lots of drama and intrigue -- something that might work very well for Cohen's part considering that his talk show focuses on pop-culture and celebrity news. Considering Hiram Lodge's legal matters were clearly a big deal back in season one, Cohen's arrival in Riverdale could be to have a sit down about everything that's transpired. Or maybe Cohen is there to offer Hermione relationship advice.

In real life, Cohen is good friends with Consuelos making it not a huge stretch for the host to play a friend of the Lodges in the series. And Cohen himself is no stranger guest appearances as himself, either. Cohen has appeared in several series, including The Comeback, Alpha House, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Difficult People.

Whatever the reason Cohen is visiting Riverdale, there's sure to be plenty of drama. Riverdale returns from hiatus tonight and while the midseason finale may have showed the Black Hood's identity to be the high school's janitor, things still aren't quite right in Riverdale. Someone's sneaking around taking photos of Archie and Veronica kissing and, even more curious, South Side High has been closed, bringing both sides of Riverdale together in the halls of Riverdale High -- a move that can't possibly go well.

Riverdale airs Wednesday at 8/7c on The CW. The show's midseason premiere "Chapter Twenty-Three: The Blackboard Jungle" airs tonight.
