Shannen Doherty Reacts to 'Charmed' Reboot News

Last week, The CW announced that it was officially moving forward with reboot of the beloved witchcraft drama, Charmed.

The news was met with mixed responses all across the internet. Some fans were overly ecstatic at the news. Other die-hards however, were less than enthused. One of the show's former stars, Holly Marie Combs, went as far as to slam the reboot. Her co-star Shannen Doherty broke her silence on the reboot news over the weekend, and she sang a much different tune.

After fans had been talking about The CW's decision for a few days, Doherty took to Twitter to weigh in. You may be surprised to hear that the actress was overwhelmingly positive about the entire situation.

"Everything made is a remake or reboot," Doherty wrote in the first of a series of tweets this weekend. "Every show, every movie in some way. Charmed was a wonderful empowering show for women. I'm proud I started a show that has stood the test of time with such loyal fans. It's a testament to the original that a new one is even being considered. I'm actually curious about their plans for it. And no, it won't be the same but nothing is."

Following the thread, Doherty interacted with fans about the news, answering some of their more specific questions. At one point, she wrote that she was "intrigued by the idea that a new generation might be comforted, inspired like you all were. Charmed helped us all in some way."

The only part of this news that Doherty took issue with the description that The CW gave with the pilot order of the reboot. The network said that the new take on the show would be a “fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series," insinuating that the first Charmed was none of those things. As you can imagine, many of the fans, along with Doherty, took issue with this.

The CW is moving forward with production on the reboot's pilot from Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Urman.
