Samuel L. Jackson Celebrates His First Emmy Win

Samuel L. Jackson has been a huge staple in Hollywood for many years, and despite some big nominations from the top awards, he never received any of the major prizes until this week. Jackson just received his first-ever Emmy, and it’s not for what you’d expect. The actor managed to score a Sports Feature Emmy for the 30-year opening day video celebrating Kirk Gibson’s home run and the last Dodgers World Series in which Jackson was credited as on-camera talent. Jackson took to Instagram to celebrate the news, and joke that he’s officially on his way to an EGOT.

“What a Dope Ass surprise!!! #whofukkynknew #firstpieceofthatEGOThahahahahaha,” Jackson wrote.

Many celebrities replied to congratulate Jackson:

“🔥🔥🔥,” Ryan Reynolds wrote.

“U deserve all of the metal, I mean it,” Julianne Moore replied.

“❤️🙏🏾,” Alexandra Shipp added.

“👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼,” Marisol Nichols wrote.

“Congrats!! 💕,” Danielle Brooks commented

It’s crazy to think this is Jackson’s first big award considering his long and successful career. Although, he was nominated for an Emmy back in 2009 for Outstanding Animated Program for Afro Samurai: Resurrection. He was also nominated for an Oscar back in 1995 for his iconic turn in Pulp Fiction and has four Golden Globe nominations under his belt.

Jackson wasn’t the only one to take home the Sports Feature award. The on-camera talent also included Goerge Lopez, who posted about the win, too:

In 1967 I was playing baseball in the street in front of Russell Walkers house ( he also lived on a Cul De Sac a grey pontiac is coming up the street faster than is recommended for a residential district as it gets closer I realize its my grandparents ( no kid ever wanted to see your parents come looking for you ) he pulls up and says ( Meta te) doesn't say another word for 35 mins as we drive south up the 5 freeway . I see a sign that says #stadiumway ( what?) just over this hill I see it for the first time @dodgers Staduim . There wasn't a bigger true dodger fan than my grandfather , so spring training of 1988 he says " this is the year" Im like ( what ? ) the Dodgers had a horrible spring training but you couldn't convince my grandfather that 1988 wasn't the Dodgers year to Win the World Series . Unfortunately my grandfather passed away Easter Sunday April 4th 1988 the night before opening day . My grandfather was right, shit looking back he was always right . Winning an EMMY award for being part of a 30 year opening day video celebrating Kirk Gibsons home run and the last Dodgers World Series is incredibly special and it be reminds me that we went to more baseball games as a family than anything else we ever did . #emmywinner #chingon #metate
