Supernatural: Mark Sheppard Says He'll Never Return To Series

Supernatural may have wrapped its latest season last week, but fans cannot stop buzzing about the finale. The show's twelfth season ended with a bloody bang as a slew of characters met their deaths. Major players like Crowley and Castiel met the wrong end of an angel blade during "All Along The Watchtower," leaving fans stunned by the sudden twist. Fans have since learned Castiel will return to Supernatural next season, but Crowley will not be returning as a season regular.

And, according to one Supernatural star, there are no plans for the devilish man to ever return to the show.

Taking to Twitter, Mark Sheppard doused any hope of Crowley making a return to Supernatural in the future. The actor responded to a tweet which co-executive producer Jim Michaels sent after the finale. The creative wrote, "Thanks for everything Mark! We never say never Mark! Besides, I know where you live!" The message was meant to assure fans a door was left open for Crowley's return.

However, it doesn't seem like Sheppard was having any part of that. The actor responded to the message, writing, "With all due respect, your comment is inaccurate and misleading to the fans. There are NO plans to have me return to SPN at ANY juncture."

The insistent message certainly makes it look like Sheppard's take on Crowley is finally finished on Supernatural. The actor may be ready to distance himself from the show after having played the former 'King of Hell' for years now. The character went out in a blaze of vengeful glory as he sacrificed his life to defeat Lucifer once more. It looks like the ending was a definitive one for Sheppard, but that doesn't mean Crowley is finished. If Supernatural really needs the man to make a return, the drama can always recast.

Still, it will be hard to replace the snark which Sheppard brought if Crowley is assumed by another actor. It was sort of the actor's shtick.
