King of the Hill‘s new revival series has made some changes to many of its classic characters with the new episodes released so far, but there’s still one favorite who needs to be fixed next heading into the future. King of the Hill returned earlier this Summer with one of the most successful adult animation premieres of the last few years with Hulu, and while it has yet to confirm a new season, it’s highly likely we’ll be seeing new episodes in the future. That means there’s going to be plenty of opportunity to keep exploring these older characters in new ways.

King of the Hill’s revival introduced all sorts of new changes to each of the classic characters now they’ve been aged nearly a decade following the end of the original series, and with it fans have gotten to see how they have changed in both good and bad ways for their future. But while many of the characters have gotten some welcome changes, King of the Hill really needs a full episode to focus on how Peggy has been changed for this modern era.
King of the Hill’s Revival Needs to Change Peggy More

While King of the Hill has been an incredible revival to see thus far with the premiere of Season 14 of the animated series, there are some limits as to how much it’s been able to show so far. Due to the constraint put on the number of episodes allowed each season with Hulu, King of the Hill’s new era has unfortunately lost out on many of the slower paced, character building episodes that the classic broadcast run of the series had. With over 20 episodes at its disposal, King of the Hill was able to flesh out its main characters in fun ways through significant focus episodes.
These focus episodes offered up some of the most memorable moments for characters like Peggy specifically. Episodes like “Peggy’s Turtle Song,” “Peggy’s Fan Fair,” or “Lupe’s Revenge” were great in highlighting both what makes her such a key part of the Hill family while also revealing more of her significant flaws. This was an element that really was a central part of the original series, and it was largely absent in the revival run so far as she has yet to get a focus episode all of her own.
There were some adjustments to how King of the Hill is handling Peggy as seen in the new episodes. These were through smaller moments that really stood out like how Hank and Bobby barely entertain her braggadocious nature this many years into their lives, and it’s curbed that element of Peggy that had been more cartoonish and exaggerated towards the end of the original series run. These adjustments were welcome to see in the new season, but we’ve yet to get a full look at how Peggy has changed yet because she’s only really played a part in other stories so far.
How King of the Hill Can Improve Peggy

Thankfully, the fix for Peggy is easy as all it takes is one or two more focus episodes in this new era to show more of how much she has changed in the years since we’ve seen her last. While we’ve gotten to see that she now has a less rougher edge compared to the original run like when she ultimately lets Bill lie about her death, or when she and Hank talk about their anxieties over their retirement years, there has still yet to be a full mirror focused on how Peggy will be moving into the future.
The final episode of the season does offer a bit more of Peggy as she’s bouncing off of Hank when it comes to their financial futures, but there’s still not a lot of questions about how she actually wants to fill her time in retirement. Hank got the majority of the focus on that end with this revival season, but we’ve really only seen how Peggy feels with her more distant life with Bobby. Her anxieties have been teased, but there just hasn’t been any real exploration of them yet.
King of the Hill needs to strike a balance between reintroducing all of these classic characters while setting up new storylines for the future, so it makes sense why the first revival series couldn’t focus on its characters with entirely solo adventures just yet. There’s a lot that fans needed to get thrown back into, and that juggle will likely continue with any future seasons. But with all of these introductory elements out of the way with the first ten episodes, the revival can take its time with Peggy and other characters with its potential future seasons to come.
