At this point, it probably goes without saying that Rick and Morty fans are insufferable. For every person who quietly watches and enjoys the show, there are diehard dudebros who harass the writers, talk about the high IQ necessary to understand the show, or copy/paste a comment about the necessary high IQ (see this Facebook post for further proof).

And then the McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce promotion happened and shined a light on the dark hearts that beat within the fanbase.

A new video captures a fan in a Rick and Morty t-shirt jumping on the counter at a McDonald’s in an obvious bid for attention. It’s pretty obvious that he’s not angry but just acting angry in order to illicit a response. Check it out above.

After pulling his shirt over his head in a bad imitation of Beavis, he screams “Pickle REEEEEEEEEE” while laying on the ground, then bursts to his feet and runs out the door.

This is hardly the worst story to come from McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce fiasco.

Due to the limited supply of sauce packets at the restaurants, some fans are reportedly paying upwards of $1000 for one portion. Others are trading their cars to get the sauce. Either way, for a fanbase that prides itself on its perceived intelligence, none of these are Good Looksโ„ข.

The creators of Rick and Morty drove fans into a frenzy after the third season premiere surprised Adult Swim viewers with a showing on April Fools’ Day earlier this year. The series made its long awaited return at the end of July, airing only 10 episodes after promising a longer season.

In the premiere, Rick is interrogated while imprisoned and reveals a fake origin story in order to turn the tables on his captors. In that story, he hints at loving McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce, which was only offered as part of a limited promotion for Disney’s Mulan in 1998. At the end of the episode, Rick reveals that he’s obsessed with the sauce and his entire reason for existence is to taste the sauce once again.

McDonald’s brought the sauce back as part of their promotion for Buttermilk Crispy Tenders, a new item on their menu.

The fast-food giant announced they would be offering larger quantities of the sauce in more stores, hoping to meet the demand they failed to match in last week’s promotion.
