The Undertaker is set to take part in his second WWE match this year in two weeks at Exreme Rules and we are learning more now about when that decision came about.

The Undertaker wrestled back in early June against Bill Goldberg at WWE Super ShowDown in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. That match did not go as planned, with it ending up being one of the worst matches of The Undertaker's career.

Some had even speculated that The Undertaker's upcoming match at Extreme Rules was booked solely so The Undertaker could get out there and redeem himself from what happened at Super ShowDown. Booker T even speculated about that on his podcast, noting he thought The Undertaker is wrestling again so soon to get the "bad taste" out of his system.

However, Dave Meltzer notes in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter this week that plans were made for The Undertaker to wrestle at Extreme Rules before the match at Super ShowDown even took place.

There was a report from Sports Illustrated that noted that The Undertaker gave WWE a list of potential opponents to work with following Super ShowDown, but Meltzer notes that report as being false.

At Extreme Rules, The Undertaker will team with Roman Reigns, the second man to defeat him at WrestleMania, to take on Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre.

The card for WWE Extreme Rules so far is:

  • WWE Universal Championship and WWE RAW Women's Championship - Winner Take-All Mixed Tag Team Match
Seth Rollins (c) and Becky Lynch (c) vs. Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans
  • WWE Championship Match
Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Samoa Joe
  • WWE SmackDown Women's Championship Match
    Bayley (c) vs. Alexa Bliss
  • WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match
Drew Gulak (c) vs. Tony Nese
  • The Undertaker and Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre
