While many thought it would never happen, it seems things are actually progressing in the Conor McGregor Floyd Mayweather fight scenario.

A variety of things stood in the way of this hyped up matchup ever happening, the biggest of which was how far apart the two sides were regarding money. Dana White previously made an official offer of $25 million to Floyd’s camp, but it didn’t take long for Floyd to balk at it, requiring much more of an upfront fee and saying the UFC wouldn’t send their top star into a match to get killed.

According to a recent report from The Irish Sun, though (via f4wonline), it seems the two have finally hashed out a financial deal, with the only thing holding up an official announcement being an unknown third party, though most suspect that to be the UFC. According to sources from McGregor’s Straight Blast Gym, the deal will be announced within the next few weeks.

At one point it seemed the two were too far apart on money for this to ever happen, but that has evidently been put to rest. Mayweather’s last fight was back in September of 2015, as he’s been in retirement ever since. Still, he’s undefeated for a reason, and once officially announced the event will be one of the most anticipated matches since Mayweather vs Pacquiao. Hopefully, for everyone involved, it lives up to the hype.
