The Pokemon franchise is really obsessed with fish. Just days after releasing the Pokemon: Magikarp Jump mobile game, The Pokemon Company has announced a new global mission for Pokemon Sun and Moon: catching fish. Pokemon Sun and Moon players have until June 13 to collectively fish 500,000 Pokemon or special items from the bubbling fishing spots seen throughout the Alola region.

Like previous Global Missions, participating players will earn Festival Coins regardless of whether the mission is a success or not. However, this mission will give out rewards to all Pokemon Sun and Moon players (with a Pokemon Global Link account) if it reaches a certain milestone. All eligible players will get a Lure Ball if over one million items/Pokemon are fished.

Pokemon Sun and Moon players have a pretty strong track record with Global Missions as of late, with five consecutive victories. The most recent Global Missions have all been completed in a day or less, although it looks like this Global Mission will take a bit more time to complete. After all, it takes a little more effort to find a special fishing spot and catch something from it than previous Global Mission commands.

Any player who successfully catches three Pokemon/items during the mission will also get a Rare Candy.

Players can register for the Global Mission via Pokemon Sun and Moon's Festival Plaza. A Pokemon Global Link account is recommended but not required.
