In March this year anime fans watched their beloved life-sized RX-78-2 Gundam statue was torn down in Odaiba, Japan, however; the attraction is now returning better than ever. Step in the new 1/1-scale RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, with its construction already underway.The new Gundam was designed by mechanical designer Hajime Katoki, with it the structure set to stand 19.7 meters high and weigh roughly 49 tons.

Last week here at Comicbook.com, we showed you how cool this new Gundam is already looking, with its movable unicorn looking antenna’s. However, that was only a sneak peek, with the full structure set to be complete by September 24 this year.The new Gundam is superior in every way, with the antenna transforming from its “Unicorn Mode” to its “Destroy Mode”. The Tokyo Waterfront City Gundam will also have a number of moving joints, as well as it being able to change its facial expression.

There will be an opening event that will include the “Wall-G” collaboration with the statue, as well as a newly opened Gundam Store, which will have exclusive merchandise. There will also be an AR app that fans can use to take photos within designated areas, which will launch on August 26th, 2017.

The new Gundam suit celebrates one of Japan’s most successful anime productions, with Gundam making its first appearance back in the late 1970’s. For years the old Gundam statue attracted tourists from around the globe, with the new one surely to do the same.
