Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump faces several manga cancellations despite having the potential. Ever since it was launched in 1968, the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has serialized several iconic series, including Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, and many more. WSJ eventually became the best-selling manga magazine of all time, and even now, it continues to stay on top with several hit series such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Kagurabachi that redefine modern shonen. While only a handful of the magazine’s series engraved their mark in history, countless others were forgotten by readers as they got axed due to low viewership or sales. WSJ cancelling the series ahead of time isn’t something new, but creators often return with new releases in either the same magazine or others under the banner of Shueisha.

Ne0;lation, an action manga written by Tomohide Hirao and illustrated by Yoda Mizuki, began serialization in 2018 and reached its conclusion in a few months, releasing only three volumes. Mizuki has been actively working on new manga titles, including Marriagetoxin, which premiered its anime adaptation in Spring this year. It’s clearly his most popular work, and the manga reached new heights of success following the positive reception of the anime. On the other hand, Hirao hasn’t begun a new series over the years. Ne0;lation barely got any recognition throughout the years and remains Hirao’s only serialized manga. Before this, he also worked on a one-shot and plans to do the same again.
Ne0;lation‘s Creator Is Returning With a New Manga
According to @WSJ_manga, a reliable source of information regarding all Shonen Jump series, the author is returning with a new one-shot on the Shonen Jump+ platform. He will be making his return along with Shiromoto Sho, who published a one-shot titled Saga of the Demon Banisher in 2024. Both one-shots will be released on June 16th, 2026. Several manga series and one-shots from the Japanese platform of Shonen Jump+ are available on the Manga Plus app, but there’s no confirmation if these manga will be released in English. Since Hirao has only worked on the story and not the illustration, we can expect the upcoming one-shot to have a different artist again.
Shueisha often releases one-shot manga, which is beneficial to both the magazine and the creators. In case the work receives a good reception by readers, there’s also a chance of extending the story into a properly serialized manga, although it’s not as common as one would expect. Regardless, the creator returning this month is an exciting update, as it all but confirms we might keep seeing more works from him in the future.
Details on Hirao’s new story haven’t been revealed yet, but we might get to see a completely new world compared to his previous series. Ne0;lation is set in a world where civilization is heavily dependent on computers, and hackers know how to take advantage of it. All chapters of the manga are currently available to read on the official Manga Plus app. Additionally, the official website of Viz Media also has all the chapters for online reading and links to buying the physical and digital copies of manga volumes.
