At times anime can be quite gory, however, that is usually minimized as much as possible in the lie-action films and TV shows. Although, from what fans can see from the official trailer released by Netflix online, this will not be the case for Death Note.

The trailer shows the victims dying in some pretty horrific ways. Immediately fans briefly see one man choking and spitting out an enormous amount of blood. Meanwhile, the next clip shows a group of men jumping off a tall building. This is what happens when you give the power of life and death to a teenager.

The creators of the live-action recreation wanted to showcase the dark and light of the anime, which is why it will be quite gory at times. However, they have also spoken about wanting to create a darker and edgier version of Death Note as well. The entire series is essentially someone picking who lives and who dies after all, so with death being a major component of the series, a bit of blood was inevitable.

The Death Note live-action adaptation will be available for streaming on Netflix from August 25th, 2017. In the meantime you can watch the trailer for Netflix’s Death Note here in the video below:

What if you had the power to decide who lives and who dies? We suggest you obey the rules. Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.
