The highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has finally released its first installment in the U.S. theaters, and it’s already a box office smash. The film was released on July 18th, 2025, in Japan, so the hype was greater than ever. Not to mention that the Infinity Castle Arc features the epic showdown between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons. Although Muzan Kibutsuji plans to annihilate the entire Corps in a single night, the Demon Slayers won’t go down without a fight. The battle commences in the first installment, and we already see some of the most intense fights of the arc, including Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka vs. Akaza, Shinobu Kocho vs. Doma, and Zenitsu Agatsuma vs. Kaigaku.
While these are clearly the highlights of the film, the other characters aren’t staying still either. The Infinity Castle is swarming with countless demons, with each of them being on almost the same level as the Lower Moons. The first part of the trilogy ends on a cliffhanger, setting up some of the major plot points left to be covered in Part 2.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Sets Up Doma’s Next Big Fight

The first fight in the film begins with Shinobu Kocho vs. Doma, the Upper Rank Two. He’s the one who killed Kanae Kocho, Shinobu’s older sister and the Flower Hashira. Ever since her sister’s death, the Insect Hashira has been planning to take down the demon, even though she has never seen him before. Shinobu pulled herself out of the Hashira Training, not only because she had to work with Tamayo and Yushiro to create a poison for Muzan, but also to accomplish her personal goals.

She told Kanao Tsuyuri about the demon that killed Kanae as well as her plan to take him down. During her fight inside the Infinity Castle, Shinobu gave her all while fighting Doma. She wasn’t strong enough to kill him, but her skills were nothing to scoff at. Poison aside, she was unimaginably fast, so much so that even the Upper Rank Two couldn’t keep up with her. However, since Doma could counterattack her poisons, regardless of how strong they were, there wasn’t much Shinobu could do except clear the path for Kanao, who later came to find her.
Unfortunately, Kanao was late by only a few moments, and she was forced to watch Shinobu die without even being able to do anything. In her final moments, Shinobu gave her Tsuguko a signal to proceed with the plan. The first part only sets up the battle, but we will witness Kanao in all her glory during the second part. Not only that, but someone else will also join the battle who has a surprising connection with the Upper Rank Two.
The Other Demon Slayers Are on the Move

After Akaza’s and Kaigaku’s deaths in the first part, the only Upper Ranks left are Kokushibo, Doma, and Nakime. The spot of Upper Moon Five has been empty since Gyokko’s defeat, and Muzan didn’t find a suitable replacement. Nakime, the Biwa demon, replaced Hantengu as Upper Moon Four while Kaigaku replaced Gyutaro. While Shinobu lost her life in the battle, Tanjiro, Giyu, and Zenitsu Agatsuma have sustained serious injuries and are unable to move at the moment.
Now that some of the main characters are down for the count, it’s time for the other Corps members to share the spotlight. As the film ends, we witness Gyomei Himejima, Muichiro Tokito, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Mitsuri Kanroji, Obanai Iguro, Inosuke Hashibira, and Genya Shinazugawa getting ready for battle. Not to mention that the MVP of the arc, Yushiro, is also lending his powers to the Corps.
While Kanao will fight Doma, the others will have to take down Kokushibo and Nakime before reaching Muzan. Unfortunately, that’s a lot easier said than done. Muzan is trying to counter the effects of the poison that Tamayo injected into him, and he plans to buy enough time while reducing the number of the Corps Members. The second part will include even more intense moments than we have seen so far, and the first part ends while leaving enough room for the upcoming fights.
