Studio Trigger’s Biggest New Anime Renewed For New Season

Studio TRIGGER has made a name for itself over the years in the anime world thanks to creating titans of the industry such as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Kill la Kill, and Delicious in Dungeon, to name a few. Recently, a series that made a surprise return after years in the shadows helped push the production house to new heights, and luckily, we have good news to report regarding the future of said anime. Following the first season finale, TRIGGER wasted little time in confirming that their latest anime would return, with fans hoping for a faster turnaround time than its original comeback.

The anime in question is New Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt, the anime adaptation that first premiered in 2010, but would return this year following an absence of over a decade. Following the revival’s first season finale, which technically counts as the second season of the franchise, TRIGGER immediately confirmed that the titular pair would make a comeback. Unfortunately, a specific release window remains a mystery, leaving anime fans to wonder how long it might be before we see Stocking and Panty return. Immediately following the latest episode, the anime studio confirmed that the story would continue in “the next season.”

TRIGGER Goes Wild Once Again

TRIGGER

Studio TRIGGER has been well known for filling each of its anime projects with energetic action and set pieces, with New Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt being no exception. At present, the series can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video, and if you need more convincing as to why you need to check out this series, here’s how TRIGGER describes the series,

“A HYPER-CRAZY, BATTLE-ACTION, HUMAN COMEDY DRAMA starring the BITCH ANGEL SISTERS on a rampage! In Daten City, a realm between heaven and hell, sinister spirits known as “Ghosts” prowl the streets, feeding on human desires and resentment. Yet, in the darkest moments, two figures emerge to obliterate these vengeful beings with a divine light beyond human understanding. Their names? Panty & Stocking! These fallen angel sisters have been tasked with purging the darkness engulfing the earth. But who are they, really? Are they truly messengers of God… or agents of the Devil?”

As for what Studio TRIGGER has planned for the future outside of the eclectic duo, the anime studio is planning to return to Night City. Earlier this year at Anime Expo, the production house confirmed that it would be working with Netflix once again to forge a sequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Considering how the first season ended, it should come as no surprise that new characters would be thrown into the mix. While many of the story details remain a mystery, TRIGGER is once again focusing on a dystopian future that CD Projekt Red introduced via Cyberpunk 2077. Hilariously, the creators of the anime reiterated that David would not be making a comeback for the second season.
