Avengers world premiere date set

In the chaos of WonderCon, it was easy not to notice that yesterday, Walt Disney Pictures announced date and location for the world premiere of The Avengers. The Joss Whedon-directed adaptation of Marvel’s most famous super-team will make its way to the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on Wednesday, April 11, for a star-studded red carpet debut.The Avengers will be released in theatres commercially on May 4, following a series of midnight screenings around the country including 30 cities in the US and Canada where marathon screenings of all of Marvel Studios’ movies will be presented back-to-back.The cast and “special guests” will begin arriving at 6 p.m., according to Disney, while the screening itself will begin an hour later. Expect “special guests to include, among others, Whedon and probably Stan Lee.
