There are different levels of psychics in Marvel Comics, from mind-readers to telekinetics to clairvoyants, and even empaths. While Xavier is a telepath, he isn’t even the strongest in that realm.

Here is a look at seven mutants in Marvel Comics who are even more powerful telepaths than Professor X and who could cause a lot of problems for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

7) Legion

When looking at psychics who are even more powerful than Professor X, it is a good idea to start with his own son. David Haller is Legion, the Omega-level mutant son of Charles Xavier and Gabrielle Haller. He is one of the most powerful mutants alive, and his psychic abilities are only part of it. Debuting in The New Mutants #25 (1985) by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, he has dissociative identity disorder, and each of these hundreds of personalities has a different mutant power.

His most important moment came in “Legion Quest” when he traveled back in time to kill Magneto, which he believed would make his dad’s life better in the future. 5) Nate Grey

Cable is Scott Summers and Madelyne Pryor’s son, who was sent into the future to save him after he experienced the techno-organic virus. Nate Grey is the same character from the “Age of Apocalypse” timeline, where he was never infected by the techno-organic virus. Instead of the virus, Mister Sinister engineered him from that reality’s Scott and Jean Grey, and since he didn’t have the virus, he has full telepathic powers, whereas Cable had to limit them to keep the virus at bay.

He debuted in X-Man #1 (1995) by Jeph Loeb and Steve Skroce. Marvel Comics showed him with Omega-level psychic abilities, including telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation, energy and matter manipulation, precognition, astral projection, intangibility, and reality warping. In “Age of X-Man,” he sent himself and the other X-Men into a new mutant utopia he created from scratch. Cassandra Nova is Charles Xavier’s psychic parasitic twin sister, but when Xavier used his powers in the womb to see that Nova was pure evil, he attempted to kill his own sister with a prenatal attack. After the birth, she somehow survived, rebuilt her body herself, and held a grudge against her brother. She debuted in New X-Men #114 (2001) by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. One issue later, Nova sent Wild Sentinels to Genosha, where they killed roughly 16 million mutants.

As a mutant who killed more mutants than anyone else in history, Nova holds a terrible spot in Marvel history. She also proved that she could beat her own brother when she swapped minds with Xavier, trapping his consciousness in her dying body while she occupied his. When Emma Frost snapped Nova’s neck, she didn’t realize she was hosting Xavier’s mind. Nova didn’t just beat Xavier; she hijacked his body and consciousness, proving her dominance over him. 3) Emma Frost

Emma Frost debuted in The Uncanny X-Men #129 (1980) by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, the same issue that introduced Kitty Pryde and the full Hellfire Club inner circle. At the time, Emma was one of the heads of the Hellfire Club, and she proved her power from the start. With Mastermind, she helped manipulate Jean Grey, and this sent the X-Men member into space, where Jean slaughtered an entire planet of beings by devouring their star.
