The first wave of nominees for the 2017 Teen Choice Awards were unveiled earlier today. The annual contest showcases some of the fan-favorite shows and movies aimed at a teenage/young adult dynamic. And judging by this first batch of nominees, DC Comics' various live-action properties are currently all the rage.
DC and Warner Bros.' various movies and television shows earned a whopping seventeen nominations in the Teen Choice Awards' first wave.
Currently breaking records and wowing audiences, DC's latest blockbuster, Wonder Woman earned three nominations in the contest. The film itself is nominated for Choice Action Movie, while stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine are nominated for Choice Action Movie Actress and Actor, respectively. Competing in Wonder Woman's categories are films such as Logan, The Fate of the Furious, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Also earning a nomination for Choice Comedy Movie Actor is Will Arnett, for his fan-favorite role in The LEGO Batman Movie.
Elsewhere, DC's various television shows are racking up nominations as well. Included in the Choice Action TV Show category are The CW's Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, as well as Fox's Gotham. The shows will compete against one of Marvel's television hits, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Fox's Lethal Weapon.
Many of the actors and actresses from The CW's "Arrowverse" of shows are earning recognition as well. The Choice Action TV Actor category features Arrow and The Flash stars Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin, as well as Supergirl's Chris Wood. Legends of Tomorrow alum Wentworth Miller scored a nomination in that same category for his work on Prison Break.
In contrast, the Choice Action TV Actress category is made up almost entirely of DCTV actresses (with the exception of Lethal Weapon's Jordana Brewster). Supergirl herself, Melissa Benoist, scored a nomination, as well as Legends of Tomorrow's Caity Lotz, Arrow's Emily Bett Rickards, and The Flash's Candice Patton and Danielle Panabaker. Also earning a nom in the Choice Comedy TV Actress category is iZombie's Rose McIver, based off of the series from DC's Vertigo Comics imprint.
To vote for your favorite DC-related nominees, or to check out a full list of those being recognized, head on over to the Teen Choice Awards website. Voting for these categories will only be open until Friday, June 22nd, so be sure to cast your ballot before then. The Teen Choice Awards ceremony will be on Fox on August 13th, 2017.0comments
