There's going to be a lot happening with Call of Duty: WWII over the next few days, between the full reveal of the multiplayer on the show floor, as well as a first look at what we can expect from the game's campaign. There have been rumors in the past that suggested that the game will come to Nintendo Switch, but now things aren't looking for sure.

Rumors in the past have suggested that Beenox, the developers of Spider-Man: Edge of Time and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, were hard at work on a port of Call of Duty for the Nintendo Switch, marking the first time that the franchise would be on a Nintendo console since Call of Duty: Ghosts in 2013. But a new comment left by Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey suggests we may not be seeing that port anytime soon – if ever.

A fan asked, "Will we see Call of Duty World War II on the Nintendo Switch?" To which Condrey replied, "Not currently. That's a conversation for the ATVI business guys, tbh."

Of course, Sledgehammer Games already has a lot to focus on with the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC ports of the game, assuring that they run at proper speeds – and with possible enhancements for the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X as well. So it's not expected that the studio would be working on the Switch version. Still, this doesn't bode well for those previous rumors.

While it's not a complete denial – the franchise could return to the system one day, given its rising popularity – it indicates that we won't be seeing it arrive this year. Maybe down the road – perhaps even as early as next year – but it doesn't look likely unless Nintendo has a huge surprise in store during its presentation tomorrow morning, which will take place right before the Electronic Entertainment Expo opens its doors.

In the meantime, we're sure to be seeing more Call of Duty: WWII tonight at the PlayStation presentation, so at least we have that.

Call of Duty: WWII arrives on November 3rd for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
