The best PS5 exclusive game of 2025, and one of the best games of the year in general, has been discounted on the PlayStation Store for the very first time. The new PSN deal, which is live until October 9, lets PlayStation fans pay $59.49 rather than $69.99 for the PS5 game, thanks to a 15% discount. In other words, it lets gamers pay what they used to pay for new AAA games on PS4 before Sony, like others, increased the price of AAA games by $10 this console generation. This isn’t a ton of savings, but $10 is $10, and it’s the first time the game has been discounted on the digital Sony storefront. And this will probably be the only time it is discounted on there until the holiday season.

The PS5 game in question is Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, a game we awarded a perfect score of 5/5 in our official review, and a game with an 89 on Metacritic. While there are six 2025 games higher than this, none are exclusive to the PS5, and only one other is AAA; the rest are indie titles. Suffice to say, it is one of the best games this year, perhaps the best AAA game, which explains why it hasn’t gone on sale until a few months after its release.
A Legendary Sequel
For those unfamiliar with Death Stranding 2, it is the latest release from Hideo Kojima and his studio, Kojima Productions. The former is the visionary behind the Metal Gear Solid series. And it is the sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding, another game we awarded a 5/5. The action-adventure game meets robust walking simulator meets USPS RPG is set almost a year after the events of the first game, and while it can be enjoyed as a standalone product, it shouldn’t. The first game should be played before playing the sequel. Unfortunately, the first game is not on sale on PlayStation Store, but it is free with PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium.
Those on PS5 and PS5 Pro who decide to trigger this PlayStation Store deal should expect to, at a bare minimum, sink roughly 35 hours into the Hideo Kojima game. Add in side content, and this number is more like 60 hours. Meanwhile, completionists will need more like 100 to 120 hours with the PS5 game.
PS5’s Best-Selling Game Also on Sale
Not only is the best, or at least one of the best PS5 games on sale, but the best-selling PS5 game of 2025 is also on sale, and its discount is deeper. More specifically, and until October 2, Forza Horizon 5 is 50% off, which means $29.99 rather than $59.99.
