The Nintendo World Championships are going on now and the event began with 24 competitive players going head to head in numerous Nintendo titles to show off who has what it takes to be number one. With each stage, more and more players found themselves fighting for their spot - but there can only be one.

Unfortunately for Asa Butterfield, he didn't make it into the final team to compete for that number one title but he did do a fantastic time during his fight. He started off strong but unfortunately had a few hiccups during Stage 3 of the event and eventually lost the underground after his performance in Mario Kart 8. Donkey Kong ended up being his downfall as the underground stage stopped him from progressing to the next round.

For those unfamiliar with Asa Butterfield, he played the child in the 2013 film Ender's Game. Given the competitive nature of the movie itself and how much of the plot centered around simulation games, many Nintendo fans were hoping to see Butterfield take the crown but unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. He is also known for his roles on Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, A Brilliant Young Mind, and the Merlin TV series.

The event is still ongoing at the time this article was written and can be seen in the video below. With only a few more stages left, only one can be the victor.
