The first proper trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine is reportedly right around the corner. Back in 2021, PlayStation delivered a truly massive PlayStation Showcase which featured games that wouldn’t release for years. Fans were excited, but hardly surprised to see Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but they were really shocked when Insomniac Games also revealed Marvel’s Wolverine. It’s the first Wolverine game since 2009 and is something that fans are dying to see more of. However, after that initial announcement, Insomniac Games has remained extremely tight lipped about the game and we’ve seen nothing official outside of a very brief CG trailer that barely told us anything about the game.

Unfortunately for Insomniac Games, there was a pretty massive leak back in December 2023. Playable builds of Marvel’s Wolverine leaked along with footage from the game and outlines for the story, all giving players a small idea of what to expect, though it was all clearly very unfinished. Since then, Insomniac has remained heads down on the project and there have even been some internal shake ups with key staff departing Marvel’s Wolverine. It’s unclear if this is a sign of turmoil or if everything is still going smoothly, but it seems like we might find out very soon.
Marvel’s Wolverine Trailer Rumored for Later This Month
Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson has claimed that a new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine has been completed and is ready to go. Sources have explained that PlayStation is planning a new State of Play for the end of September, meaning we could get the first look at Wolverine roughly four years after its reveal. If it doesn’t happen at the State of Play, it’s also theorized that PlayStation could save Marvel’s Wolverine for a showing at The Game Awards in December. Of course, take all of this with a grain of salt, but Henderson is generally a pretty reliable source.
This may also indicate that Marvel’s Wolverine isn’t terribly far from release. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 started to show new trailers and gameplay just five months before its release after years of silence. PlayStation seems to largely hold off from showing too much of their games until their close to release, even if they were announced years ago. Insomniac is also precious about not showing too much in its marketing, so one way to minimize that is by only doing marketing closer to release.
With that said, maybe Marvel’s Wolverine is gearing up to release in spring 2026. Hopefully, Insomniac will put us out of our misery and put a date on its latest PS5 exclusive when it releases this rumored trailer. Either way, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
