There is a new free Steam game available for all PC users between now and September 23. After this deadline, the PC game will revert to its normal price point, but if the offer is claimed before this deadline, the title is free to keep forever. Of course, the new free Steam game is not the biggest or latest PC game — far from it — but for those who grew up playing SNES and Sega Genesis games, it may scratch a nostalgic itch.

There are actually two free Steam games available right now of note. Metal: Hellsinger is currently available for free, but there are some hoops to jump through to claim it. The other free Steam game — the one just made available — has no hoops. All you need to do is make a few clicks, and it’s yours. This latter game is Cybarian: The Time Travelling Warrior, a 2018 release from developer Ritual Games and publisher GrabTheGames.
About the Game:
For those who have never heard of Cybarian: The Time Travelling Warrior, it is described as a “classically inspired action game.” As you can see in the trailer below, the new free game combines side-scrolling beat ’em ups with platformers, all in a pixel-art presentation, and punctuated by major boss fights. This is the elevator pitch of many SNES and Sega Genesis games of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Normally, the PC game only costs $5, so this new offer doesn’t represent the biggest amount of savings. Meanwhile, as the price point suggests, the game is only a couple of hours long.
Steam Deck Support
Those on Steam Deck interested in redeeming this offer may run into problems. We say may because we do not know. The game’s Steam listing lists Steam Deck compatibility as “Unknown,” which means Valve has no information or insight on the matter to offer. That said, those after Steam Deck games will be happy to know one of 2025’s best Steam games was recently verified.
As always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think, or join the conversation over on the ComicBook Forum. Meanwhile, if you are on PC and in the market for free games, don’t forget Epic Game Store has two new ones.
