PlayStation Drops the Price of the Best PS4 Game by 80%

PlayStation has dropped the price of the best PS4 game by 80% for a limited time. In this case, this title refers to the PS4 game with the highest Metacritic score. More than this, the game in question is the 9th highest-rated game of all time, behind only Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, Perfect Dark, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario Galaxy, Grand Theft Auto IV, SoulCalibur, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, in that order. Suffice to say, to be able to grab such a game for 80% off is noteworthy.

The PS4 game in question is Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2, and the deal comes via the PlayStation Store, where it is 80% off until September 23. The PSN deal is specifically for the Ultimate Edition of the game, which normally costs $100. This version of RDR2 includes both exclusive story mode content and exclusive Red Dead Online content. And this is the lowest price this version of the game has ever been on the PlayStation Store.

Grab the Predecessor Too

In addition to Red Dead Redemption 2, PS4 users can also grab the first Red Dead Redemption for 50% off. This deal is not via the PlayStation Store, though, where it is full price, but courtesy of both Amazon and Best Buy. For those that do not know, the first game is equally acclaimed and popular as its sequel. And like its sequel, it doesn’t go on sale often nor get deep discounts.

Arguably the Best Game Ever Made

Many people will tell you Red Dead Redemption 2 is the greatest game ever made, and they are right. What’s incredible about Red Dead Redemption 2 is that, despite being 7 years old, it’s still better and more impressive than every game that has been released since it. It looks and is more impressive than every game releasing in 2025, yet it’s not a 2025 game; it’s a 2018 game. This is to say, if you haven’t checked it out yet, there is still time to do so. It hasn’t aged one single bit, and until GTA 6 releases next year, it will continue to hold the bar for open-world games.

Speaking of PS4 games in 2025, an equally popular PS4 game was just removed from the PlayStation Store this week. Meanwhile, a PS4 exclusive game from 2019 looks poised to return soon with a new remaster.
