A PlayStation console exclusive is being removed from the PlayStation Store and shut down, giving PS5 and PS4 users 48 more hours with the action RPG. This means that PS4 and PS5 users won’t just be able to purchase the game from the PlayStation Store starting on September 29, but also won’t be able to download it from their library or play it even if they have it downloaded. The game in question has dozens of hours of content, which means PlayStation fans won’t have a chance to see it all between now and then if they start it now, right before the deadline.

The game in question, which is also available on PC and smartphones, but not on any other console, is called Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Battle Chronicle. For those unfamiliar with this game, it debuted on August 24, 2023, via developers Aiming and Team Caravan. This is when it was released on PC and mobile devices. It didn’t come to PS4 and PS5 until February 13, 2024. So, it’s not even been on PS4 and PS5 for two years. That said, this shutdown announcement was shared earlier this year, giving PS4 and PS5 users plenty of time to check out the RPG.
“We Deeply Apologize”
The aforementioned duo have never disclosed why the game is being shut down, and this hasn’t changed. It is presumably because it is costing more to support the game and maintain its servers than it is making from the free-to-play game with both live-service and gacha elements.
“We regret to inform you that the distribution of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Battle Chronicle for PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5 will be discontinued. We apologize for the sudden announcement to our players,” reads the statement about the game’s delisting and shutdown. “We deeply apologize for this sudden announcement and would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the players who have supported us until now.”
This is now the second shutdown from this exact pair this year, after the duo shut down a fellow PS4 exclusive, Caravan Stories, earlier this year. It is unclear if these two shutdowns are related, but the pair have both other games live and in active development together, which suggests they are not.
Of course, it is possible the game could return in the future, but this is unlikely. Once a game is shut down and delisted, very rarely does it ever return.
