One of 2025’s biggest Steam games is now Steam Deck Verified, two months after its release on PC. Previously, the Steam game was playable on Steam Deck, but now it is listed as Verified. This means that Steam-owner Valve has tested the game on the handheld, and can confirm it is both fully functional on Steam Deck, and works well with its built-in controls and display. In other words, Steam Deck users can now pick up the game with 100% confidence that it doesn’t just run on the handheld PC, but runs well.

The Steam game in question is Peak, which was released by Team Peak, Aggro Crab, and Landfall back on June 16, 2025. And upon release, the chucklesome co-op climbing game became an instant hit. This is most evident by hitting 170,759 peak concurrent players, the 98th most concurrent players in Steam history. Meanwhile, in 2025 specifically, the only new releases that have managed more concurrent players on Steam than this are Schedule 1, Monster Hunter World, R.E.P.O, Split Fiction, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and Dune: Awakening. The last of these games, Dune: Awakening, was also just made Steam Deck Verified.
One of the Highest-Rated Steam Games of 2025
Not only have many Steam users checked out Peak, but many have also enjoyed it. To date, it has 65,457 user reviews, 94 percent of which are positive. This is one of the best returns a 2025 game has earned on Steam. Bolstering this, Peak boasts an 82 on Metacritic. That being said, it should come as no surprise that its retention rate has been great, as evidenced by the fact it hit 80,000 concurrent players over the last 24 hours, which is almost half its all-time high. And its previous high didn’t come at launch either, but only 13 days ago. So Peak may be two months old, but many are playing it in August. In fact, more are playing it in August than when it was released.
Not only is Peak popular and beloved, but it is also very cheap by modern video game standards. To this end, those on Steam Deck interested in seeing what all the hoopla is about only need to fork over $7.99.
About the Game:
If this is your first time hearing about Peak, it is a co-op climbing game, though it can be played solo. In it you play a lost nature scout, and your only hope at rescue from the mysterious island you found yourself lost on is to scale the massive mountain at its center to reach the top. The premise is simple, but of course, the execution is anything but.
While Peak can be played solo, it is certainly a more enjoyable experience if you have people to play it with, as the hijinks that ensue are best enjoyed with others. It’s still an interesting game as a solo experience, but different and not as comical.
This new addition to the Steam Deck Verified library comes at a great time, because Steam’s biggest release this month is not only not Steam Deck Verified, but has some substantial problems on the machine.
As always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think. Will you be checking out Peak on Steam Deck?
