John Carpenter's 'Prince of Darkness' and 'Assault on Precinct 13' Get Steelbook Treatment

As the world of movies grows increasingly digital, with audiences often relying on merely viewing what's available on a variety of streaming services, a growing trend for horror movie fanatics is to purchase collectible Blu-rays, allowing owners to watch these films whenever they like. In honor of two of his most classic films, Scream Factory is paying their respects to John Carpenter by producing collectible steelbook Blu-rays of Prince of Darkness and Assault on Precinct 13.

Each film will be limited to 10,000 copies and, like all Scream Factory releases, will be packed with special features and all-new cover art.

Both films have previously been released by the distributor and contain the same special features on the standard releases of the Blu-rays. In Prince of Darkness, "a group of graduate students and scientists uncover an ancient canister in an abandoned church, but when they open it, they inadvertently unleash a strange liquid and an evil force on all of humanity. As the liquid turns their co-workers into zombies, the remaining members realize they have released the most unspeakable horror of them all."

In Assault on Precinct 13, "isolated inside a soon-to-be-closed L.A. police station, a group of police officers and convicts cut off from the city must join forces to defend themselves against the gang called Street Thunder, who have taken a blood oath to kill someone trapped inside the precinct."
