A major fan favorite may be returning to X-Men: Apocalypse. According to a report by Heroic Hollywood, 20th Century Fox will reveal that Wolverine will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse later this week. Per the report, Hugh Jackman's famous clawed mutant will appear in a new 3-D trailer that Fox will unveil at CinemaCon, a convention focusing on movie theater owners and operators. It's unclear if Wolverine will have a major role in Apocalypse, or if he's simply making a cameo similar to his appearance in X-Men: First Class.

Wolverine was the start of the last X-Men movie, Days of Future Past, when he traveled back into time to help Professor X and Beast stop Mystique from assassinating Dr. Bolivar Trask, the creators of the mutant-hunting Sentinels. While Wolverine succeeded in his mission and returned to the present day, his unconscious body in the past was retrieved by a William Stryker-impersonating Mystique. As Mystique appears to be one of the leaders of the X-Men, we could see Wolverine appear as a feral trump card in the battle against Apocalypse. Jackman will make his alleged last appearance as Wolverine in the upcoming Wolverine 3, which is due out next year.

So what role will Wolverine allegedly play in X-Men: Apocalypse? We'll have to wait until the movie is released on May 27, 2016.
