Over the past several years, Marvel Studios has been putting together contests that encourage inquisitive young women across the country to get involved in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and with the upcoming release of Doctor Strange, the studio has launched a new contest encouraging young women, between the ages of 15 to 18 (grades 10-12) and residing in the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, to discover the secrets and mysteries behind modern scientific and technological discoveries and innovations.

"Hi, I'm Rachel McAdams, and I play the role of Dr. Christine Palmer, colleague and confidant to Marvel Studios newest hero in the upcoming film Doctor Strange," the actress says in the video above. "Throughout history ideas once thought possible only by magic have become a reality through science and technology. Marvel Studios is offering an exciting, unique opportunity to girls just like you to discover and share the magic behind science, technology, engineering, and math, or STEM."

How's it work? Come up with a sciene/technology-related question; find a mentor in the real world that will help you discover and understand the answer(s) you seek; create a 5-minute science vlog sharing what you've learned on your journey; and fill out and sumbit an application at www.DrStrangeMagicofSTEM.com.

Five finalists will be selected and each will:

  • Receive an expense-paid trip to Hollywood, California for the finalist and a parent or legal guardian to walk the red carpet at the World Premiere of MARVEL STUDIOS' DOCTOR STRANGE.
  • Receive $1,000 deposited into a high-yield savings account from Synchrony Bank.
  • Receive a tour of the Walt Disney Studios and more.

Of those five, one will be selected to be mentored by "the Walt Disney digital team and learn how to produce their very own science vlog, from story development through production and presentation. The vlog episode will then be shown via a Walt Disney Company media platform."
