Over the final two season of Game of Thrones, it'll be thrilling to watch Arya Stark cross off each person's name on her kill list — which includes Cersei Lannister, Melisandre, The Mountain, and Ilyn Payne. But when her deed is done, so too will be the series and the steady paycheck Maisie Williams has grown accustomed to receiving.
However, if the tweet below is a confirmation of sorts, then Williams has already joined another popular universe and is about to begin working on the first film in what could potentially become a trilogy.
Last night, Daniel Boone, the director of the upcoming X-Men: The New Mutants, tweeted Ashley Guillory's illustration of Williams as Wolfsbane/Rahne Sinclair — a Scottish mutant that can transform into a wolf and is a member of the aforementioned superhero team — and as you can see, he tagged Maisie's official Twitter account.
If true, this wouldn't be a huge surprise. Williams has been rumored for the role since HitFix reported it in March 2016; however, 20th Century Fox denied the report soon after.
A month later, the 19-year-old British actress was asked about the rumor and provided an intriguing response. “I can’t say much about it at all, but I would absolutely love to be a part of it, [and] to be a part of the Marvel family,” she told EW. “New Mutants looks absolutely incredible and I’ve always loved the idea of spin-offs and [director] Joshua Boone is incredibly talented. So, yeah, sign me up.”
And how do we know Wolfsbane is even in it? She was included in the animatic that was released in November. In it, she, Magik, and Cannonball faced off against Demon Bear — a villainous threat that draws power from negative human emotion and can teleport.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO in summer 2017.
