Samuel L. Jackson Is Determined To Meet Up With Black Panther

With Black Panther being the latest Marvel Studios movie to enter production, many are curious to see how the groundbreaking film will come to fruition. Besides being the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to feature a black lead, the film boasts a diverse and talented cast, including Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Forest Whitaker, and Angela Bassett.

But apparently, another actor from the MCU is wishing he could join in on the fun.

In a recent interview with Sirius XM to promote Kong: Skull Island, Samuel L. Jackson addressed why he thinks his longstanding MCU character, Nick Fury, should appear in the film.

"We know that other people are around, but you don't know if you'll ever encounter them in that universe. Everybody's in different places." Jackson explained, when asked when Nick Fury will cross paths in the future with the MCU characters of his Kong: Skull Island costars, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).

After that, Jackson jokingly pointed out Black Panther, and questioned why he isn't involved with it. "I can't go to Wakanda, for some reason. I'm the only black character you've got in the Marvel universe right now, now for some reason when you do a black Marvel movie, I can't show up in Wakanda? Okay, fine. I'll meet him later."

There is a chance that both of their characters could cross paths in Avengers: Infinity War, as the film promises a cast that will represent the culmination of the decade of MCU projects. Given the contributions both Jackson and Chadwick Boseman (who plays T'Challa/Black Panther) have made to the film's universe, it makes sense that the pair would at least both appear in the film.

According to Jackson, it would absolutely make sense for their two characters to meet, and he wouldn't be surprised if there was an established relationship between the two, joking "How can Nick Fury not know Black Panther?"

Black Panther follows T'Challa who, after the events of Captain America: Civil War, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T'Challa's mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

The film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira , Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. Additional cast members include Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Sterling K. Brown, and John Kani.

The film opens in U.S. theaters on February 16, 2018.
