While iconic characters like Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, and Thor are a big part of the allure of Marvel films, everyone in an honest moment will admit that most go strictly for the Stan Lee cameo.
Okay, maybe that's not the only reason, but it's become a Marvel tradition to have the legendary creator star in a cameo somewhere during the film's runtime. Upcoming films like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Infinity War will all have the Stan Lee stamp of approval, and one of those, in particular, might just be his best cameo yet according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. On the Maltin On Movies podcast (via Nerdist) the subject of Lee's frequent cameos came up, with Feige saying "Most recently he flew to Atlanta and shot four cameos in one day for upcoming projects, one of which I think is maybe the best one we've ever done. It's a high bar for Stan."
He's had several memorable moments, including that great scene in Amazing Spider-Man where Lizard and Spidey are fighting while Lee has his headphones on. Fans won't have to wait long to see a new cameo from Lee, as he is slated to appear in Guardians Vol.2, and you can find the official synopsis below.
Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
Next up for Marvel is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5, 2017. Spider-Man: Homecoming lands on July 7, 2017, followed by Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017.
