Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was a successful kick-off to the summer movie season, and enjoyable sequel to the groundbreaking (and star-charting) first film. As always, fans are excited to know when they can relieve the adventure of a another Marvel movie from the comfort of home, and now we know the answer!
In an official press release, Marvel has announced that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit digital download and 4K Ultra HD on August 8th - with a Blu-ray and DVD release following on August 22nd.
As we previously stated, GotGV2 will be the first Marvel Studios film to be released in 4K Ultra HD, with this new press released teasing that, "4K Ultra HD provides four times sharper resolution of HD with exceptional HDR which produces brighter brights, deeper blacks and richer colors than ever before. The galaxy has never looked so good!"
There will also be an "Ultimate Cinematic Universe Edition" of the film released, with the following bonus materials:
- A collectible poster (while supplies last)
- The 4K Ultra HD version of the film
- Blu-ray and Digital copies of the film
- 80 minutes of never-before-seen bonus material - including special guests, outtakes, deleted scenes, and audio commentary by director James Gunn
- An all-new original music video "Inferno" featuring David Hasseloff.
Either way you get it, it will be nice to end summer the same way we began: with another fun cosmic ride with the Guardians team!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be available on Digital HD on August 8th; and Blu-ray/DVD on August 22nd.
